Listen in Style

Twinkletoes recently got this old radio....

She is my pinkie.

She loves this old thing.

It picks up 2 stations.

Basketball and Gospel.

Maybe that's all you need in March.

Happy Pink Saturday in March Madness Season.

The Transformation of a Chicken Coop chair

Good Morning All!

**I want to share what I worked on this weekend**

An old chair that I scrounged out of an old abandoned chicken coop.

This is how it looked after I scraped off the wasps nests, dirt, and maybe a little chicken poop.

I didn't want to look too closely.

and shhhh.....

please don't tell my hubbie that it came from a place where chickens used to roost
he already wanted to pitch it

So~ I did a bit of fabric shopping and found some with fun vintage colors.

after prying up two layers of ugly vinyl

and stapling on the new fabric

*ta da*

my little chicken coop chair sits in the corner of my kitchen

Sweet as can be.

Wasn't that a great way to welcome in spring?

I'm sharing this with the fun and inventive group of folks at
Metamorphosis Monday and Vintage Thingie Thursday.

Have a great day~~

Mon Jolie Cadeau

Bonjour mes amis.
I received a most wonderful cadeau in the mail yesterday afternoon.

It was international...
aren't those always exciting?

The package came from afar....from this lovely home in France.

It was something I won from a blog giveaway....

from Maggie at Normandy Life.

Now that is living the romantic dream, isn't it?
A 16th century ivy covered home in the beautiful French countryside.

{{sigh}}

This is the sweet treat that I won
~A cafe au lait cup and creamer~

They were produced in the late 1950's in a village called
St. Jean de Poterie
...in the region of Brittany.

Aren't they marvelous?

Merci~~Maggie!
I adore them

Now if you will excusez moi....s'il vous plait.

I'm going to get the brewing started so that I can sip my cafe au lait in the early morning fog and pretend that I'm looking out onto a French field of sweet smelling hay bales and grazing sheep.

avez une bonne journee~~

The Barn Sale

If you go traveling down F Highway near Oak Grove this weekend....
you will see many small signs beckoning along the road....
~~antiques~~
~~collectibles~~
~~pottery~~

and one large sign....

***BarnSale***

~this is where you would want to turn in~

You will drive down a lovely lane where century-old farms exist

Where cows and their babies munch lazily in the fields and
stare as you drive by

Then you see what you've been looking for~~
The lovely old home with the barn full of goodies.

Wonderful outdoor furniture is awaiting your arrival

A typewriter begs you to punch its keys
...and believe me...
we did.

Benches and boxes and tins abound

A window caresses old bottles from yesteryear

So many wonderful things to see...and buy....
....sweet ladies to visit with...

I love the BarnSale

As we left...we passed this sweet little birdhouse and Spunky said...
"I would put the flag up when the birds are living there"

So would I Spunky....so would I.

A Golden Moment

One of my bestest friends forever recently gave me this sweet little stack of old
Little Golden Books to craft with.
Remember those wonderful books with the shiny edges?

They have the sweetest pictures in them.

Wonderfully faded from time.

If you are in need of an altered cigar-box with any of these pictures on them....let me know.
These just may be my ticket back to creative geniousness.

Twinkletoes' Treasures

Wowsie wow wow...it's the weekend already. The summer weeks are flying by.
As promised, Twinkletoes is ready to share her vintage heirlooms.

Most of her treasures have been given to her from grandmothers or great-grandmothers.
I love that she realizes how precious these gifts are at her tender age of 8.

This is her antique iron that she loves to play with.
It was a gift from her grandmother.
Holy Moly...I hope she never drops it on her twinkle toes because it is
heavy

Here is the end cap with the information ...
I love to get close ups of old rusty things.

This is her set of old wooden dominoes {also from her grandma}
It is really quite cool.

Her special statues...

*The pretty pink girl is a music player that belonged to my grandma. She passed away when Twinkletoes was 3 months old. I sure wish she had gotten to know her.

*The little Dutch girl was a present from Becky at Sweet Cottage Dreams. She is such a wonderful lady....she is very special to us.

*The little pony was a gift from another great-grandmother. It is darling.

**********
This is a trinket box that Twinkle got from her Grandma Tee. She loves horses and if they have wings~well~ that is twice as nice!

And this is a trinket box from her Grandma C.
It is chocked full of her girly jewelry.

~~Best for last~~

This is a lovely little locket that hangs in her room...
The day she got it she drew her self-portrait and placed it inside.

Isn't it great?
Makes me smile every time I open it
:)

There you have it...
not a bad start for a little twinkle gal...

a little box of stamps

a cameo

an of course her old sewing machine that she bought for a quarter this spring at a garage sale. remember that? If not...read about it here. I just love that story ;)

Those are some of my six year old's favorites...I'll show you my eight year olds favorites next Thursday. She has some goodies as well!

Enjoy your vintage Thursday.
I'll be off camping but I hope to get around to see you all real soon!

Got Milk? Got Bling?

This is the last time I talk about my birthday...I promise!
So, here is the gift from my mom that I didn't show you
last week. Unfortunately, I forgot to check my ebay account
and was barely outbid so my collection has not grown yet.
Don't you hate when that happens?!
grrrrrrrrr.

I was trying to get some more of these adorable juice glasses.
I heart them very much!
****
This one cracks me up?
Do you know what this lady is doing?

She is eavesdropping on her!! What a rascal.

If putting milk in these glasses gets my girls to drink their milk then we definitely need to get some more. Maybe I will even drink milk in a cute glass like this.
Maybe. {doubtful}

From what I have read, Kraft used to put cheese products in these glasses.

and I just have to show you my vintage gift from Wonderful Husband.

I actually ordered it myself but he watched me do it. Ha.

I first saw it at Miss Frenchie's and I was in love.

It is from Karla's Cottage. She is one sweet and talented lady.

The package was dressed so beautifully....

ta*da
It sure does sparkle!
Thank you Wonderful Hubbie!

one last and final note....

the winner of our June giveaway was blondiensc.....congrats Tara!
