Where I Slumber...

I think that there is something innate in most women
that makes us love fluffing our nests.

~Making our homes feel welcoming and peaceful~

~an escape from the chaos of the outside world~

I wanted to share some of my bedroom photos with you....

I've tried to make it feel like an old European bedroom~
a place that makes me smile and lay in bed just a bit longer.

I textured the walls myself with plaster and glaze
....it took me over a month to finish them...
but it was worth the effort.

My sweet 7 year old made me this wreath for Christmas out of brown coffee filters.
She did the whole thing by herself.
{My Spunky doesn't like assistance}
:)

I love it!

My bedroom won the 2010 This Old House Bedroom makeover.
Thanks to all you lovelies who voted last year!

Maybe someday I can make it into the magazine....

No matter what else~
I've had fun working on it
and it's a peaceful place to lay my head at night.

Hope you have a wonderful day~

Loving All Things White

It's been a real up and down experience building our
dream home in the midst of illness touching every aspect of our lives.
I have often felt guilty for building on now, of all times.

When we started, cancer was in remission,
and we were hopeful it would stay that way...

But once you start, you can't go back.
So, reality is, we are building on...
to make more room for family and friends

and

It's getting closer.

With a to-do list a mile long,

Some days it feels like it will be years.

Other days it feels like it's all coming together.

But the stairs are going in this week.

This is one of Chasity's, Shauna's and my favorite staircases...
I have been picking up antique and vintage mirrors at yard sales and auctions for a while now.

My sisters are a big part of my life...and my home.
Chas and Shauna designed my kitchen...
you could say when it comes to decorating,
that I was a late bloomer.

Chasity was out this week to see how things are coming along,
but Shauna has not been out since we started.
She hasn't seen her French doors going out onto the covered porch,
that she planned or a few other ideas we shared.
We are there a lot, but circumstances have not permitted her to be here.
I'm hoping once she is home from Hawaii and rested up she will be able to spend the day.

Tomorrow the sheet rock on the vaulted ceiling goes in and our old living room ceiling gets torn out...along with the wall that is dividing our old house from our new house.

Wowza.

I am hoping for a look like this in our living room,
only with lots of shelves and nooks under the stairs for cozy vintage material
covered bed rolls for my floor lounging fellas.

Hubby is not real sure of this...
but he is allowing me to plan at this point for MOST things white.
I am grateful for his tolerance of my love of white,
despite his aversion to painting anything wood.
Most of our conversations go like this,
Me, "Isn't this a great piece!"
Hubby, "Yeah, it's nice...you're not painting it white are you?"
****sigh****
Alas, I love him anyway. :)
Don't you just LOVE this room? I do!

I wanted to put in a galvanized shower, but had not seen one,
until Chas found this little picture.

This is our plan for the bathroom we are remodeling in the existing part of the house...
but I like it so much, I am hoping hubby will let us put it in one of the other bathrooms too.

I just love the layers and textures of this one.

And this one is just ooh-la-la-lovely.
Somebody quick give me a paint brush!!!

It won't be overnight, but it is nice to see things coming together.
Living in construction has been...um, well, not the most pleasant,
but knowing we are working towards having our home a
haven again for family and friends keeps me focused.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and a
lovely White Wednesday!

Love,
Debbie

Gardeny Goodness and Lavender Loveliness

I was in charge of decorating a table at our Ladies Day at church
this past Saturday.

It was a garden themed day

so~

I grabbed a tree branch from the yard...
and cutesified it.

I also used lots of wonderful lavender.

It is beautiful ~
and smells so lovely.

And then....
when the day is over~

I get to bring the goodies home and find places for them in my home.

I like that part.

You can never go wrong with lavender.
Put it anywhere.

Put it everywhere.

It will make your heart sing.

Tweaking with Twinkle

Do you ever think that you are all done decorating a room ....

and then you see something that totally inspires you to
add more and do more?

That is what happened to me when I found
the flea market style magazine from BH&G this summer.

So my Twinkle girl and I started a little antique shopping
and did some tweaking in her room.

Pink is her favorite....
as you will see.

We are all done.

for now.
:)

Have a happy day~~

and it is so yummy.

you can find the recipe here
at good ole Country Living.

~~creme puffs~~

This breakfast ring was so easy that my 9 and 7 year old made it.
It is a Pampered Chef recipe.

easy peasy

:)

I was thrilled to fill my house with lovely sweet ladies and enjoy
our time together.

and to the newly wed couple~

Best Wishes for a Lifetime of Happiness!
