A Song in my Heart

I love music...

I love the way music can sympathize when I am feeling down and just want to relish the sorrow...

I love the way it makes me smile when the skies are blue and the breeze is blowing cool....

I love to listen to unusual lyrics and try to pick them apart and figure out their meaning...

When I find a new artist that really speaks to me... I dive in completely and immerse myself in their music.

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago with a group called
The Avett Brothers....

I heard a song on the radio {a station that plays more obscure bands} and as soon as I got home...I warmed up the computer and googled away.

Now a day can't go by without visiting youtube and listening to them. I am drawn to their grunginess and honesty and pure harmony.

And I got the best surprise when I found out they would be in
Kansas City in August.
Did I get tickets? You bet I did.

Does music have this affect on you? Have you found any one lately that really grabs a hold of your heart?

These are the lyrics to one of my favorite Avett Brothers songs:

I and Love and You
Load the car and write the note
Grab your bag and grab your coat
Tell ones that need to know
We are headed north

All one foot in and one foot back
But it don't pay, to live like that
So I cut the ties and I jumped the tracks
For never to return

Brooklyn Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in
My hands they shake my head it spins
Brooklyn Brooklyn take me in

When at first I learned to speak
I used all my words to fight
With him and her and you and me
Oh it's just a waste of time
It's such a waste of time

That women shes got eyes that shine
Like a pair of stolen polished dimes
She asked to dance I said it's fine
I'll see you in the morning time

Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you
What you were then I am today
Look at the things I do

Dumbed down and numbed by time and age
Your dreams to catch this world the cage
The highway sets the travelers stage
All exits look the same
Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you
I and love and you
I and love and you

*******
good stuff.

Music sends me to so many different places. It can conjure up great memories, sad memories...I LOVE music!

Kelly Johnson is a singer from my town. She plays in a band and she is GREAT on the guitar. She is more country/gospel and she is awesome! Vince Gill is trying to help her get her foot in the door in Nashville! I told her I could say...I knew her when..

I thought I was the only one with this music obession. I find someone new and I can't get enough of their music, hunt down every c.d. I can get my hands, listen to them over and over again. It affects my emotions deeply. Then, in the blink of an eye, I luck upon something new. A new recent favorite is Zee Avi. Check her out and tell me what you think! Where are the Avett Brothers playing at? Curious minds need to know! :)

Beautiful pictures....music doesn't speak to me like it used to. I used to listen to classical music all the time but now I really only listen to music when I exercise.

Good morning Chasity :)

What a beautiful song! I've been known to get carried away with a great deal of bands and singers. A long time back I played Sixpence None the Richer over and over until the CD broke LOL

Have a beautiful day!

I think that you get your love of music from your dad. He says that he always has a song in his head.
