Our Kitchen Renovation

It took me three years of pleading to convince my husband to buy
the house where we now live.... their were many reasons why he kept saying
NO

the biggest reason being the kitchen

it was just a skeleton of a room at the time........
no cabinets
no trim
no fixtures

it was a mess

before:

and after:

this was our sink....

lovin' those old 2x4's?

the same spot after:

this is where I did the cooking for a while....
very convenient :P

we found a better arrangement for the cooking area
and this what the same spot looks like now:

we also got this hutch to go along a different wall~
we didn't measure before we bought it...
there is about an inch worth of play or it would not have fit

dumb luck or fate?
I prefer fate.

At our previous two homes...I had white painted cabinets
and I always love the look of a farmhouse kitchen

but for this house

we thought it would be more appropriate to honor the history of the craftsman-style
and consider what it may have looked like a hundred years ago

I hope the original owners would be pleased if they saw it today

I will show you the pantry in a second installment~
it's in major need of some organizing

and I'm not getting on a step stool until I get my hard cast on my arm!

~~~Have a fabulous day~~~~
Oh Chasity sweetie...
Everything look so absolutely beautiful. I just love it. Thank you for sharing. Your cabinets and countertops are so beautiful. I would say the previous owner's would want to move back in. You all have done a phenomenal job. I love your china cabinet. It is alot like mine. So very pretty.
How is Ms Shauna doing? I continue to pray for her, and think of her every day. I know she is in the best hands possible. Please remind her she is so loved and prayed for.
Country hugs sweetie. Can't wait to see the rest of the make over.
Did you save the sink? It looks like mine! I think you did a beautiful job staying true to the house. Mostly I'm amazed at what was there before you got your hands on it.. yikes!
You obviously had a wonderful vision that Hubby could not imagine. It turned out just perfectly Chasity. Now girl, you listen and listen good as my granny would say, you don't go climin' up on any chairs or ladders, ya hear? I AM so happy you are feelin' better.
Have a fantastically blessed day dear one!!!
Your kitchen is amazing! I too love craftsman homes. I really wish everyday for one. My home is fine but a girl can dream!
I love all your goodies around your kitchen. The chippy green chair would match my farm table perfectly!
Congrats on your finished kitchen!
Hugs, Lisa
Haha, when I first saw the title of this post, I thought "no way, neither of them are remodeling their kitchen I hope!" I love your kitchen! I never saw the before pictures, but I'm even more impressed now! Hope your arm is healing up well! Love you!
The before pictures don't even show how it really looked before, and the after pictures don't really show how beautiful it is now.
Love you,
Oh how BEEEEEEEEAUTIFUL! I can only wish that one day ours looks as good!
I know what you mean about trying to honor the past. When we finally do ours, I will be certain to post before and after pictures...just hope people are not too frightened by the BEFORE :o0
