Fun MOMMY Night!

Once a month I go to a Ladies Bible Study in the evenings.
When my girlies were tiny....
my leaving for this did not go over well.
They would stand at the door crying as I drove away
and mope the rest of the evening as
Daddy tried to console them.

I knew that a change in perspective was needed
and I initiated "Fun Daddy Night"
as the title of the evenings....
subtly discarding the title "Ladies Bible Study"

It was nearly miraculous how well this new title worked
~~and as the years have passed~~
Fun Daddy Night has become quite a fun~filled event.
They start planning all the great things they want to do
with their Dad and fill the night up with all sorts of good fun.

I'd never had a Fun Mommy Night....
until tonight.
Hubbie had a concert to attend with a friend.
The girls were sulking about not having
the evening to spend with him and I said....
Hey.....we can have a Fun Mommy Night.
What a revelation! Let the planning begin.

{sorry for the blurries...my girlies hate using the camera}

First....we went to a local lake and watched the sunset.
It was beautiful.

We made some wishes.

They took me to the BassPro shop and gave me the tour.

They have never been on a boat in the water....
but they have one all picked out.

We went to Redbox and picked out a movie.
There was nothing current that was good so they picked
The Adventures of Milo and Otis.

It was cute....I was slightly in shock when the close~up of the
birthing cat occured.
and Twinkletoes said "I thought it was pooping at first"
Lovely.

We had our assorted snacks.

I chose popcorn with Hot Tamales. mmmm.

Spunky got Swedish Fish...

and Twinkletoes....Mike and Ike's.

We settled into our p.j.s and socks

and had a wonderful time.

Oh yeah.....Mommy can be fun too!

Lots of hugs, girls!

Hi Chas :)

You looked beautiful on your Mommy's night! Your daughter's looks just like you :)

You've inspired me to do the same with Annie. She's just about the age where she won't want to anymore, so I'd better hurry up! :)

xo,
rue

Love it!! Fun Daddy Night to "disguise" Ladies Bible Study. I should try saying that when My husband leaves for work in the morning if my little guy is awake... and say "Fun Mommy Day". Maybe that will make "my day" even better - if I speak it as a fun one before it even starts.

Just a thought...

Good for you! It's so hard to be fun sometimes, and usually the Daddies get that title over mommies... Nice to see we CAN do it! lol

Changing the name of the night was ingenious! It's so interesting how children take positive cues.

Fun mommy night looks like a blast too! Your daughters are adorable!
