Why does this city have such a hold on us? What makes it so intriguing?
It starts early in life...everytime my little girls see a picture of the Eiffel Tower, they are sure to point it out to me in excitement. Their fascination has begun because of the beloved Madeline.

But what do we grown gals love about it?
Is it the artists and their beautiful paintings?

Is it the wonderful flea markets and the possibility of finding that perfect treasure?

or the sidewalk cafes?
.
.
the amazing architecture?

Could it be the cheese?

.
or great bikes?

Here is what I think...all these things are nice and add to the aura but I think that we are really just hopeless romantics. We have seen the movies like 'Sabrina' and 'Somethings Gotta Give' and countless others where the girl gets her kiss from the man of her dreams in the midst of this romantic city. We want to gaze at the Eiffel Tower or stand near the Seine River and have our man walk up to us and give us the kiss that tells us he will love us forever.
.
What do you think? I've never been. I want to go. For those of you that have been, what are the most wonderful things about it? For those that dream of going, what is the lure?

I have never been there, never felt the urge to go, but for a coffee like the one in the picture...I might consdier it!
i'll take the sidewalk cafe's any day of the week.
Couldn't resist reading this post! Yes, I think Paris is a city for all helpless romantics. Paris emphasizes beauty from the store fronts to how they package the things you buy--all those little details. Everything speaks of beauty and glamor...few places in the US unfortunately show this! What a pleasant subject to post about--thanks!

P.S. My little girl likes Madeline too! ; )

I would LOVE to go to Paris...really Europe in general. There is something about how old it is.
Hey lets get a blog world trip planned. That would be so fun. My oldest went to Paris last summer. My daughter is going this summer. I guess when they are all done going it will be my turn!!
I have never been to Paris, but I have been to Europe a few times. I love that the architecture is not only useful but beautiful. We don't do that here in America. Things go up quickly for a purpose and we forget all about the details. Live is all about the details. Would love to go on a flea market trip to France...ready to make the plane reservations.
Wonderful post - it made my heart beat a little faster. I have been to Paris twice. Loved it the first time, was hoping that I would love it as much the next and I did. I love walking and in Paris I could walk from dawn to dusk and just never get tired because of all the beauty and fascinating buildings, people, etc. You must go!
my one dream is to visit a Paris flea market. I am glad to see I am not the only one that hasn't been to Paris yet. I keep dreaming.....
Have a great week!!!
